aiwo - food for life

tucked in a corner of the 2nd floor of raffles city shopping centre is aiwo, a health boutique restaurant...

aiwo 爱我 literally translate to 'love me' in chinese, serves a menu which has less salt, less fat, less oil, less calories and less high density carbohydrates... offering a complete healthy experience through their ala carte dishes, beverages and desserts...

although they have been around since 2004, i have only recently visited their 120-seater restaurant... a private dining area which can accomodate up to 20 people, although there is no minimum spending required, to reserve the private dining area, the reservation has to be for at least 10 persons...

the restaurant has a semi-open kitchen concept, where diners can view their food coming out of the kitchen... besides that, every table has an interesting utensils drawer which helps the service staff to save on the time required to do table setting...

from their menu, they serve a variety of cuisine, including chinese, western and indian food... in addition, they have 4 different set menus targeting at different segments fo the market... i decided to go for the omega treat set menu...

first up, edamame salad with green soybeans, sundried tomatoes, olives and beancurd...

the next course, the soup of the day... of course the usual easy to prepare tomato soup... instead of bread to go with the soup, soy pitta were served... the accompanying dips includes tomato tartae and a sweet sauce which tasted very much like the sauce you will get at any yong tau foo stall...

following next is the main, i chose the pan-seared salmon steak which came with a small serving of brown rice... if you are a 'rice' person, you can ask the service staff for more helpings of the rice...

as a person with a sweet tooth, i always look forward to the deserts... chocolate and green tea parfait with berries reduction... it consist of 3 layers and has the right balance of sweetness and sourness...

finally, coffee... just look at the distince layers of the cappuccino... while most places only restrict to regular coffee and tea for the set menus... at aiwo, you have a choice of any specialty coffee or tea...
